Supporting the Hive from the Top Down
Meet Hang Kousky, executive assistant in California
From CPOs, CROs, and VPs of C&BD, Hang Kousky has supported high level executives for as long as she can remember. As an executive assistant for CloudBees’ Chief Corporate Development Officer, Hang helps manage CloudBees’ corporate partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions, keeping tabs on everything from business expansions to strategic partnerships and technology alliances.
Born in Vietnam, Hang and her family left for the U.S. on the last day of the war. "That made me appreciative of everything – my mentors and all the things I love. It made me understanding and empathetic and molded my beliefs about work and the people I support,” she says. "I think that’s why I want to be a cheerleader for my fellow Bees. I want them to be successful, I want to see them succeed.”
With a penchant for helping others, Hang is one of CloudBees’ most fervent supporters. Beyond the experience of her upbringing, Hang says working in customer service helped bring out her ardent and supportive nature a little more. "I love customer service and I expect good customer service,” she says. For Hang, it’s all about putting your best foot forward. "If you’re going to deal with the public, you should always give it 100%,” she explains. "I want the customer to have the best experience.”
In her six months at CloudBees, Hang says she couldn’t have asked for a better experience. "I enjoy executive support because I get to be an extension of that person. I’m not an engineer, but it’s amazing to listen to my colleagues, learn from them, and just be around this level of knowledge all the time,” she explains. "The person I support – Peter – has drilled so much into my brain. He’s really mentoring me to become a chief of staff,” she says.
Something unique Hang has learned from her mentors at CloudBees, she says, is anticipating everything. This means knowing what companies to look at for acquisitions, what the next steps will be, and more. "Without a doubt, I have the best leader to support. I’m so lucky to have such a great mentor because he can recite what we’re trying to do backwards and forwards. He has done it, he knows it, and he’s an expert on it. That guidance trickling down to the rest of the team and company is so amazing,” Hang says.
After witnessing CloudBees’ rapid expansion during her time as a Bee, Hang can’t wait to see what happens next. "We’re growing so fast because this leadership team knows exactly what they’re doing. We have so many talented people and I think that’s why we’re growing so fast. Our team members have the best networking and connections because they are really respected in their field. A lot of it is reputation, but it’s also leadership that’s making CloudBees grow so quickly."
