Use of CloudBees Platform for Continuous Delivery cited as instrumental in accelerating development and deployment of digital content marketplace
WOBURN, MA. -February 11, 2014 - CloudBees, Inc. , the Enterprise Platform as a Service (PaaS) innovation leader, today announced that Frost & Sullivan has named CloudBees customer Choose Digital a winner of a 2014 CIO Impact Award. The winners will receive their awards February 11 at Frost & Sullivan's 2nd Annual ConNEXTions 2014 conference in San Francisco.
Choose Digital is one of 26 world-class companies chosen as winners of the 2014 CIO Impact Awards, and one of six companies honored in the awards' Cloud Computing category. Award winners were picked by a panel of expert judges, based on the nominee having completed a compelling project by an enterprise IT team. Choose Digital's selection was based on the company's use of cloud technologies - specifically the CloudBees Platform as a Service - to launch its unique and innovative "private label" digital marketplace.
"Our goal was to be first to market, so we needed to accelerate application delivery," says Mario Cruz, co-founder and CTO, Choose Digital. "It was critical for us to avoid the traditional monolithic development approach with its onerous roll backs and integration headaches. We were drawn to continuous integration and continuous delivery processes so that we could be nimble and react quickly to market input. Receiving this award is validation of our strategy - of which the CloudBees Platform was an integral part."
Choose Digital's private label digital marketplace enables companies to incorporate digital content offerings into their own customer loyalty programs. The Choose Digital marketplace consists of music, movies, TV shows, ebooks and audiobooks, all sourced directly from global record companies, major movie studios and publishers. Choose Digital currently hosts a number of customer-branded digital marketplaces for companies like United Airlines, Marriott, Petro Canada and others.
Choose Digital leveraged the CloudBees Platform to jumpstart development, providing the first-mover advantage the company wanted. The initial continuous integration development environment was set up on CloudBees in just one day. The company also utilizes CloudBees' deployment services for continuous delivery and deployment of its application.
"The CIO Impact Awards judges were very impressed that, in just two years, Choose Digital built a service that supports millions of visitors each week, processes thousands of transactions every day, and competes successfully with Amazon and Apple/iTunes," says Jeff Moad, research director, Frost & Sullivan. "The decision to base their business on cloud-based services, including the CloudBees PaaS platform, has clearly provided the business agility they needed to gain first-mover advantage and has been key to Choose Digital's success."
The Choose Digital application currently handles more than a million visitors per week and thousands of transactions per day. Additionally, volumes are doubling each month as new customers come online with the service.
